M: You said you wanted to compare the old Ghost Rider to the new Ghost Rider set.
L: Yes. Yes, I did.
M: Look at…pfft…look at the size of this box compared to the the parts that are in it. It’s freaking criminal. I’m gonna knoll it all out first to see what I have. I wanna see…I wanna see just how much there is here quantitatively.
L: That might be a new bike fairing.
M: This one?
L: Yeah.
M: I don’t think so. 2024, so it’s…
L: Guess not.
M: …gotta be used in something else.
L: Same Spider-Man as always, just with no shoes.
M: Are you sure?
L: You want me to go get the one from The Bugle?
M: Well, I…I…I…don’t know. I mean there’s like a gazillion heads and a gazillion bodies for that guy.
L: Sure looks like the the default common one. It’s got the arm printing that’s too dark for the, too dark for the red, and it’s got the…

M: Well, you’re way more familiar with the superhero things than I am.
L: Wow! [referring to headpiece] Ghost Rider actually has a removable flame now.
M: Oh, we’ve got the good old standby hoodie.
L: I don’t even know who that was from.
M: It’s, it’s ancient. It’s ancient, yeah. But you know, you put…
L: It was from Jurassic World or something.
M: You put… No that’s a City…
L: nnnnh.
M: I think so.
L: No, I’m pretty sure that was Jurassic World.
L: Got flame blasts. Pew pew. Not sure how you’re supposed to drive the bike with those things.
M: Yeah, let’s see what’s this…this is all sorts of pathetic. [assessing the quantity of parts relative to the size of the Harry Potter box]
L: I was just noticing the seat, the lack thereof.
M: Oh, it’s a… Ghost Rider stands up in there?
L: Stands in, up.
M: Yep, this oughta make you happy. I’ve got more magic wands.
L: [whiny voice] Oh. Oh fun. And in dark brown. [stops whiny voice] And you’re gonna get even more with the Death Eaters. Oh hey, it’s the new broomstick piece. Not the broom brush, the stick.
M: Oh, the crooked stick?
L: Yup. Looks like Ghost Rider has invested in stud shooters. Because LEGO wouldn’t give him his shotgun.
M: I don’t know when Ghost Rider picked up all these…
L: He’s had a shotgun for a while now.
M: Well there’s now, there’s yards and yards of Ghost Riders. It used to be we had Johnny Blaze and a bike. That was it. No weapons.
L: And Danny Ketch.
M: Danny Ketch was so far after Johnny Blaze.
L: You have… you have a Danny Ketch book.
L: Yeah, but I bought that after I bought the house. As opposed to the… as opposed to the things that I had in 1974.
L: Okay, we get it, you’re old.
M: Yeah, I think it’s… I don’t know. [chuckling] I was gonna say it was probably drawn by John Romita, Jr. He had that version. [more chuckling] His father made enough money on doing covers for the first Ghost Rider to afford for a kid to grow up and draw the second one.
L: The Death Eaters’ head, Death Eater Heads, they got double sided masks?
M: Uh [checking] they do.
L: Oh now you gotta figure out which one goes on which.
L: Oh, He’s got an arm to hold his handlebars that he… Okay…
M: Here’s my knolled set of Harry Potter. Literally that could go in a [breaks down laughing] a box that must be about a quarter of the size of what it comes in.
I order this many parts off Pick-a-Brick and they come in a 7 x 9 inch padded mailer…
as opposed to these coming in a 10.5 x 5.5 x 2 inch box.
L: Yeah, that box. [indicating the much smaller Spider-Man/Ghost Rider box]
M: All right, let’s see Harry Potter.
L: Oh Wow.
M: I think this is my first Hagrid.
M: Well…? What’s, what’s the comparison here with Ghost Riders?
L: Uh, well, aside from the obvious scale difference… the… I… they… they really don’t feel like they’re meant to be the same.
M: Seems more, yeah. I… I don’t know when uh, when Ghost Rider went to the… to having a chopper. Seems like he was, back in the ’70s, it was just like a stunt bike. Because he was a stunt bike guy. And then the stunt bike the… it got like a skull shield on the front of it.
L: That’s Danny Ketch’s bike.
M: No, it’s a different one. I… I know… I know what you’re talking about with Danny Ketch, but that one was more angular and… and kind of… [being shown a Ghost Rider cover on the phone] What…?

L: Nope, that is… that’s from Marvel Team-Up number 15. That… that is the Ghost Rider. [furiously scrolling through Ghost Rider images on the internet]
L: That’s… [more scrolling, more scrolling, the internet vortex has once again sucked the boy in] Team-Up… Marvel Masterworks, Ghost Rider Volume 2, high qual… uh… high quality, but this is seems to be one of the earlier bike? But also there’s… there’s later ones from… yeah, 1977. It’s… it’s uh… it’s a red flaming motorcycle.
M: But it’s just… ah, it’s… it’s not a chopper is the point I guess I’m trying to get to. When does it become a chopper? Like a… I mean you can’t really ride these choppers because they’re so frickin’ dangerous when they have a rake on the front that’s as long as the back or the rest of the bike. It’s just… you turn it to the side and the whole bike will flip over.
L: I’d… I’d guess it would be the eighties ’cause that’s really when the red… the red long forked bike shows up.
M: But even that’s not as severe as these forks.
L: Maybe the movie then?
M: Maybe.
L: [still scrolling] Nope, Ghost Rider number 7 he still has the stunt bike.
M: Artists must have been using something for reference for that bike. I don’t know what… take it over to Palmer, [chuckling] see if he knows.
Aside: Palmer is a neighbor who builds things like choppers and race cars. If the vehicle has an engine, Palmer will quite likely know what the vehicle is on sight.
L: The… the one from the movie was a 2004 Harley Davidson.
M: That’s the first movie?
L: That is the first movie.
M: I don’t know.
L: The Hell Cycle from 2007; there it is from 2007.

M: Neither of those movies were that good, unfortunately. I don’t know who they were hiring to make ’em but kind of missed the boat.
L: Oh yeah, that… the Hell Cycle was from the, the, the crazy one was from the first movie. Yeah, Spirit of Vengeance had the normal-looking bike. Original one had the… crazy looking one with the fake chains was from the first movie. So Spirit of Vengeance has the… sequel has the normal looking one. So yeah, I’d… I’d guess the the… the 2007 movie is kind of responsible for the crazy-looking… [finally putting the phone down] Oh but yeah, look at the…
M: Oh the torso. He’s got the chain…
L: They changed the jacket.
M: He’s showing fire through his chest there.
L: He has on the, on the other one.

L: Uh, uh, I do think it’s strange that the new one doesn’t have, have a chain.

L: Spider-Man. Punisher’s a Spider-Man character. A lot of characters are Spider-Man characters. But, yeah, the larger mech one at least the shaping of the bike seems more Ghost Rider-y even though he didn’t really have the uh, the long forked bike for…
M: Well, I mean it’s bigger, you can get more detail in it.
L: Well, I think like how the…
M: The little one’s just wrong…
L: I mean like the…
M: …it’s too long on the back end.
L: Yeah, it’s not… and I… and this one’s got the, is, the, the exhaust pointing more back while this is just…[points out angled exhaust on the larger bike]
M: Oh, the new one’s straight back?
L: Yeah. So, so it’s like you think it’s…
M: I don’t know.
L: But this one you can have Spider-Man, too, on…
M: The stud shooters on there are silly.
L: It’s so he can shoot Spider-Man who’s connected behind him.
L: I’d like to see how long it takes—it’s too bad the Mythbusters aren’t still around—I’d like to see how many tries it takes to hit a target…with side-mounted projectile launchers of any sort…on a motorcycle…at speed.
L: We have a dud stud shooter. Does not fire. ehn. I’m gonna go see if that’s the same Spider-Man as the old Spider-Man. [goes to find old Spider-Man]
M: All right.
L: [returning with old Spider-Man]
M: Legs are different.
L: Yeah, that’s what I said. They’re, but, uh, aside from him losing his shoes, it’s the same Spider-Man.
M: Printing’s a little hot. Which one is which?
L: [pointing] Old.
M: [examining the two figures] Even got the old… that print quality on the back of the new head is… significantly… crisper… anyway.
L: But with the Spider-Man, the arm printings will vary from copy to copy.
M: Yes. Well, ostensibly it’s the same Spider-Man.
L: Yeah. So. Clearly this, this is, this is the Ghost Rider that you get if you wanna have ’em do the…
M: But Spider-Man and Ghost Rider were buddies.
L: Don’t know why they’re fighting anyone.
M: I mean, well, they sort of were buddies. But you know how the Marvel universe is. First I’m your buddy, then they…they’re enemies ’cause the writers just want to have ’em fight each other.
L: Yeah. Well, I don’t know where Punisher went, but this is so you can have Ghost Rider stand next to Punisher and give him the penance stare and then have it not work on him and then Ghost Rider is very confused.
M: [laughing]
L: ’Cause why, why else would they have him with the the flames coming out of his eyes and mouth, if not for the uh, the deus ex machina ability of uh, you just die, and then the deus ex machina does not work on a normal dude from New York.
M: Well it was when he looks at you, you’re supposed to feel the the the guilt and pain of all your victims or something. The Punisher killed all guys that didn’t feel guilty about killing anybody.
L: No, it’s uh the the pain you inflicted upon others inflicted back on you in, in, in the trauma of killing. It’s like… Yeah. Ghost Rider can’t, he can’t hold on to his handlebars with his…
M: With his flaming hands?
L: …with his flamin’ hands. He sits up better or stands up better. Yeah.
M: All right, I guess you’re… I guess you’re up for the next motorcycle there the…
L: [examining the two Ghost Rider minifigures] Oh! Actually I didn’t notice that! They, they did change the jacket.
M: Well, you were just talking about the chain…
L: I didn’t see the back. I didn’t see the back of the jacket. I didn’t see that he had the, the padding. I just noticed on the front that he had the collar. Oh, and he doesn’t actually have white striping. It’s just all silver. Interesting. All right. Tiny bike time.
M: The 4+ police motorcycle. That’ll take you about 14 seconds to assemble.
L: Why is the box so heavy?
M: Big parts for little kids? Does that get the usual kind of massive…
L: Yup.
M: …the massive two-part assembly for the, for the body of the bike?
L: Uh-oh.
M: Uh-oh, what?
L: The book was stuck in the box.
M: I lose a part over there?
L: Bag one book one builds a motorcycle.
M: Oh, there it is.
L: Have Spider-Man hang on for your life again.
M: Okay, this… the Death Eater have the red on his face? Oh, it’s copper. It’s copper colored.
L: [looking at the instructions in the 4+ book] Yes, put it in your hands. Have the parts in your hands.
M: Oh, [chuckling] put all the parts in your hands if you’re four years old.
L: Yep. Also, wow, look a hairpiece! Don’t see that every day. Oh and yep, gotta give her—gotta have her hold on to the handcuffs, you know, can’t be safe while driving your motorcycle.
M: Actually these death eater bodies are pretty easy to distinguish from one another because one has gray arms and one has black arms.
L: Oh wait… Okay, [laughing] so now I have to take the helmet off. I’m gonna put the hair on. And then and then give her a flashlight. So she can be extra unsafe.
M: Does she does she have a stupid flashlight like the X-Files sets?
L: No, just a just the normal lightsaber handle with the yellow 1x1 stuck on it. Oh yep, okay. [starts laughing, holding a part as shown in the instructions, demonstrating that he is specifically following the directions]
M: Your hand is massively larger than a four-year-old’s though.
L: Let’s put two parts on the side. Bike frame so big it could make Speed Champion sets look small.
M: [laughing]
L: This bike is as wide as some LEGO cars.
M: Indeed it is.
L: Now I’m putting clips on the side. This could only mean one thing. The police officer is going to be safe while driving. Maybe.
M: Did they put Ghost Rider into the animated stuff?
L: Once in a while, sometimes.
M: I kinda don’t know why Ghost Rider is a set for six-year-olds.
L: He does. Ghost Rider’s kinda like kind of nestled himself in the “oh no, bad stuff are happening. We need uh a guy to show up and deus ex machina our way out of our problems”, so Ghost Rider shows up and then just kills the enemy.
M: But he’s essentially a horror character though. I don’t know why.
L: Well because flaming skeletons that drive motorcycles are cool as hell.
M: Oh, it’s because they’re… they’re cool.
L: Because they’re cool. He, he looks really cool.
M: Yeah, I… I bet if somebody with a flaming head and driving a motorcycle parks his vehicle across the street that the little kids who live over there would not be thinking: “oh he’s cool.”
L: Okay, so I guess this police officer has to be safe now. I’ve gotta hook the loose handcuffs to the side of the motorcycle. Oh. Okay. So the flashlight has to point backwards, or else it won’t fit. Interesting. Um, and she, too, stands on the motorcycle.
M: Oh, we’ve got a flippy bit on the…
L: You can knock over the potted plant.
M: …flippy bit on the stand or whatever this thing is.
L: It’s uh, it’s a road divider with a potted plant in the middle of it. Don’t know what this hipster crook is, is gonna, is gonna do on a skateboard with a giant death motorcycle after him.
M: What’s the head on that guy? Oh that’s just a kind of a common head.
L: Yeah but he’s got the, he’s got the, the newsboy cap.
M: Hipster? It’s not the same head as the suave guy from the train heist set.
L: Yeah, this, instead of being suave, this guy’s gonna open up a really expensive burger restaurant with truffle fries.
M: With all the… with the two hundred dollars he’s stealing? [starts laughing]
M: No, he’s got a buddy.
M: In this economy?
L: He’s got a business partner with a crazy idea.
M: [dropping a piece on the floor] Yep. Lost a piece.
L: Good gone.
M: Oh there it is. All LEGO must end up on the floor. Good golly, Miss Molly, a lot of, a lot of bonus pieces here. Did I miss something?
L: No, those all seem like bonus bits. Yeah, you’ve got to be…
M: Those two. These two don’t look like they should be bonus bits.
L: Oh. I think it goes there.
M: Oh. Yup. But, cripes, there’s almost as many bonus pieces as there are actual pieces.
L: [makes ATM beep sound]
M: Uhn.
L: What?
M: I’m trying to figure out what the point is here with the flippy bit. Yeah, I drive into… I don’t know.
L: Or, or you, or you hit the guy and so he goes [makes sound of person dying]. Commit vehicular manslaughter.
M: Aren’t these guys supposed to be flying or something?
L: Well one of them is. The other guy’s on foot.
M: The other guy just chases you with a stick.
L: He gon’ getcha. Oh, I’m a I’m a petty crook stealing from an ATM right next to where my wanted poster is. ATM with a camera. Oh! Oh, look, you got enough spare parts to make a second flashlight.
M: All right, so what’s going on over here? Yep, you get the cop on the motorcycle not looking at the road because…
L: Bike, bike too big. Doesn’t have hands on, doesn’t have the hands on the the handlebars ’cause not real handlebars.
M: They’re too far out, aren’t they?
L: Yeah. Flashlight facing backwards. So they can illuminate behind them, because there’s no…no…uh…no lights on this thing.
M: Is she gonna arrest the Ghost Rider for dragging Spider-Man?
L and M: [laughing]
L: Maybe that’s why…
M: We…
L: [laughing] maybe that’s why Spider-Man and Ghost Rider are fighting. Spider-Man wants to… Ghost Rider wants to burn this poor guy and, and, and all he’s trying to do is get an actual escape vehicle. He’s got this lime green skateboard.
M: With a crowbar.
L: With a crowbar. And two hundred dollars.
M: The crowbar probably cost him [chuckling] a hundred and fifty bucks [chuckling] so he can rob an ATM of $200.
L: Yeah, and an ATM with his wanted poster right next to it because there’s only one ATM in this on this whole city block, apparently.
M: All right, I guess now it’s we’re up to the last motorcycle. Look, it’s the same parts. It’s the same parts.
L: Yeah, but you have a Rhino.
M: It’s the same parts but blue.
L: And Spider-Man.
M: I w… I wonder if I can assemble this without looking at the instructions.
L: Just by, just by using the box?
M: [drops part] Woop. You wanna pick that up? Oh, it’s way across the room.
L: [sigh] Oh, I found him. It was Spider-Man’s head.
M: Oooh.
L: Or I guess Spidey in the…
M: Okay now. Oh, this has got to be a different head because it’s Spidey.
L: It’s Spidey. It’s little baby Spider-Man with his little tiny legs.
M: Oh? He, he’s got tiny legs?
L: He’s got little tiny legs. He’s got the shorty short legs.
M: Are they red? Oh, they’re blue. Medium legs.
L: Now didn’t you have one of the uh, one of the, the Rhinos from that line? Didn’t you get the Hulk and the Rhino set somewhere?
M: No. I have a, I think I have a Miles Morales motorcycle.
L: With lady Electro?
M: Yup. And I’ve got a Spider-Man with a car, maybe?
L: Oh boy. There he is. The second ever minifig the Rhino.
M: Really? Only the second?
L: Yeah, because the first one was also from this line.
M: Wasn’t there one in the Mighty Minis or Micro Minis or whatever?
L: There there was one from the, from an, um, from a… another Spider-Man set that was like a tie-in with the Amazing Spider-Man movie, but this is the second one that’s actually in a Rhino costume. There was a Scorpion from the Mighty Micros, but there was, uh, there wasn’t a The Rhino.
M: Oh! Oh, look! It’s one of these!
L: He’s got a pizza shooter.
M: Pizza oven shooters.
L: Mm yes. There, finally, [chuckles] a worthy opponent for Ghost Rider to stare at.
M: [assembling the pizza shooter island without looking at the instructions] That’s good. All right. I put those on… that must go that way. And then the other one. Okay, now where’d Rhino go?
L: Oh. Rhino has been saved.
M: Rhino’s gonna take out the Spider Bike with the pizza.
L: Three pizzas.
M: Launch a pizza at the Spider Bike.
L: Maybe that would be effective at Ghost Rider. You could shoot a pizza in his face and he couldn’t see. So I’m sure cleaning cheese out of a skull is gonna be annoying.
M: [laughing] Yeah, quite, quite possibly. Oh look. Missing a…
L: I think one of those yellow pins goes on the other wheel. The one that you put in the body. One of them’s the spare. So that’s how this one [indicating the police bike] was built.
M: Oh look at that! Damage out of the box! We have a stress mark on the piece.
L: Yeah?
M: Right there. See?
L: Wow! You are right that is… that is a stress mark. We got a lemon!
M: Okay, now what? Oh we must have a… must have a thing here to attach the handle bars. And of course this is a bike that could be going frontwards or backwards. There’s no specific direction implied.
L: I just think it’s really funny when they include these ’cause it’s just…
M: What, the giant webs?
L: The giant web that you go “woah” [opens and closes web assembly].
M: That’ll close up like a…
L: Oh no.
M: …like a clamshell. Clamshell spider web. Okay, now… No. [part falls off Spider bike] Well that does not want to stay. Okay, so the pieces I have left…
L: Looks like that cheese slope goes back behind his toes.
M: These double blue jobbies. Is there something? Looks like there’s a red underneath. Must be the square one. And then the blue clips. And then the triangle.
L: And then there’s three mysterious clear red parts. I think one of those is the tail light.
M: My guess is they go under the blue thing on the side. But that’s my guess is they’re… they go under the claws and then those blue curves go on top.
L: I think that [indicating a red wedge piece] goes under the handle…
M: We’ve got a tail light and that goes under the handlebars I’d assume.
L: You can’t see it from that angle, but maybe…
M: Or maybe it’s just an extra. That would be the only place for it.
L: Well I think that’s where it goes. Oh he’s wearing a jacket now…or is that a seat belt? And that just goes right there.
M: Yeah.
L: And the uh, guess the pizzas go right, right on the, on the curb here.
M: Hah! Is this his seatbelt?
L: I don’t know. It does show him sitting on the box. Okay. I don’t know, since he can actually hold onto his handlebars normally and this guy [again indicating the police bike] can’t.
M: All right, so let’s get Harry Potter out of the way for the photo. [takes photo]
M: So, I don’t know, do we have a winner here?
L: I do, I think the Spider-Man set’s pretty good for four, for a four-year old.
M: Have to get a price check on the on these two. They’re probably ten bucks. We can check.
L: Yeah, I think the Spider-Man one definitely beats out the City one in terms of play value because, you know, you can go like “pew” [firing a pizza] and lose, uh lose that [meaning the pizza just fired], and then Spider-Man can be like, “Haha!” and “I got you, Rhino.”
M: Put him in the web.
L: Put him in the web and drive around with him and then go “eeeerrt” with the little leg claws. And this one [referring to the City set] just…meh.
M: Yeah, the claws can be positioned somewhere something like that. Well you do get a, you get, you do get a crook on a skateboard so, you know, Rhino would have to run…and the skateboard could…
L: You get a you get a crowbar so you can do [pries open ATM door].
M: Yeah, I don’t know. This, this Harry Potter set just, uh, doesn’t do much for me.
M: Yeah, but you can put your, you can knock over a potted plant and stick your, your, your evil evil somewhere.
The later fact checking…
The medium stone grey hoodie with the light nougat hands was, indeed, first released as a Jurassic Park part in 2015. With yellow hands it was released in 2016. Score one for Lou.
Motorcycle fairing part 7708 is a new part. Score two for Lou.
The Spider-Man torso used in the Ghost Rider set could definitely qualify as “the default common one” as that has appeared in 30 sets in the past six years. Score three for Lou.
The seatbelt-wearing Spidey minifigure is used in three 2026 sets. There are at least 19 different classic, Peter Parker, red-and-blue (or black) Spider-Man minifigure torsos and another 6 “Spidey” torsos which configure into at least 31 separate minifigures, so my estimate of a gazillion is only off by six or seven.
Seatbelt Spidey
There are four Rhino minifigure versions. The first released in 2015 is the one referred to above as being related to the Amazing Spider-Man movie and is not in a rhino suit. The second released in 2022 and rereleased in 2023—that version has a rhino suit. The third Rhino is the one from the set being reviewed here, released January 2026. The second and third are “Spidey” version Rhinos. The fourth version is a “not-Spidey” Rhino from the Spider-Man vs. Mysterio: The Daily Bugle set, also released January 2026. Lou didn’t quite get all of this one.
Rhino from set 11206
Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider in the 1970s comics did start with a standard motorcycle, then it did get a sort of skull shield on the front, then later reverted to being without the shield. Score one for the old man.

The Danny Ketch Ghost Rider Bike was more angular. The chain used as a weapon is introduced with the Danny Ketch version. Johnny Blaze did not use the chain. Score two for the old man.
